The 2003 Cole Camp Future Fair King and Queen contest was held on Sunday evening, August 3 in the L.C. Schnell Auditorium. The children that entered this contest are:

The entries were all decked out in their best dress and behavior for the afternoon. Some of the boys, when asked why they were there responded with "My Mom made me!".

All of the boys and girls did very well, and in the end there were three boys and three girls choosen for the Future King and Queen finalists. The actual Future King and Queen will be announced Thursday evening just before the Grand Parade.

The three finalists for Future King are:

The three finalists for Future Queen are:

• Emery Shipley
• Casey Jean Bahrenburg

The 2002 Future King and Queen were on hand to monitor the actions of the 2003 contestants - they did quite well, in spite of appearing to be bored at times!

Each contestant was asked a couple of questions as part of the contest. "Who gave you your name?" was answered mostly with "Mom", and a variety of answers to "If you were going to be stranded on an island, what one thing would you take with you?".

There was a lot of sitting, and kids will be kids, but they were rewarded with a bag of "goodies" for doing such a great job. Thanks to the many businesses that helped support this event.

The entertainment by Alyssa Harris was the story of Briar Rabbit and the Tar Baby.
