This site contains information about the Cole Camp, Missouri area and events that are taking (have taken) place there. It will change from time to time as I place more information here. Most of the information is in photographs that I have taken the last few years, and they are placed here for you to view. If you want to link to any information in these pages, please set your link to this page and not to one of the lower pages. That way, when I change the site information, your link to this information will continue to be valid.Civil War Reenactment - In June of 2006, there was a reenactment of one of the battles of the Civil War, referred to as the Battle of Cole Camp. It took place on the original site a couple of miles East of Cole Camp. Photos that were taken during the 3 day exhibit can be found on the above link.
Class of '56 Reunion My high school class just celebrated the 50th anniversary of their graduation by getting together for a day. Information and photos of this get-together can also be found on this site.
The town of Cole Camp has a strong German background and several traditions that are related to this background. I have attempted to capture some of the events and traditions in pictures, and they can be found by following the following links:
Singer's Festival (Sängerfest) - an open air evening performance by the local German Children's Choir (Kinderchor), the local German Women's Choir (Damenchor), the local German Men's Choir (Männerchor), and the Combined Mixed Choir (Gemischter Chor). In addition, there are performances by German individuals and groups from other areas, such as Tulsa, Okla., Concordia, Mo., and Kansas City, Mo.. The performance is usually held the last weekend in July.
Oktoberfest - a festival in early October consisting of many area crafts, entertainment, and German food. There has been pancake breakfasts, an antique bicycle show (including one wheel high riders), a car show and a gun show in past years. In addition, the Low German Theater has been held on the same Saturday as the Oktoberfest.
Low German Theater (Plattdütscher Theoter) - a live theater put on by the local talent in the area. It is entirely in Low German, with the scripts written and performed with local people. There are two performances, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon - usually the second weekend in October.
German Richtfest Held for Bob Owens at the building addition he is having built to house many of his books, including several German prints. Also performing was the Männerchor with Neil Heimsoth as the narrator for the event.
Irish/Celtic Festival - this is an annual event, with the first one held March 6, 2004. It consists of a day of Irish fun - a fun parade, Irish food, entertainment and special sales. Come join us in March or April for an Irish day in a German community!

This event has German food, games for kids - including the winding of the May Pole, music by area musicians, book signing by area authors, art displays and sales by area artists, various craft items for display and sale, and spring flowers for sale by the local FFA chapter. Also included will be bake sales to help raise funds by local non-profit organizations - a day of fun in the spring!
